Hi - new year, new medium, and post 1.
I spent the last few months of 2012 building a 7mm IGA wagon from the Appleby Model Engineering kit. The purpose of these posts is to show you the enhancements I've added, my approach to painting it, and anything else that might be helpful.
But first a mini pictorial recap.
The prototype:

How it looks now:
The first thing I want to tackle is achieving a realistic wooden look floor. The kits floor has wooden planks etched in but I want to create a wooden effect simply from paint. I've found a fantastic product from RB Productions
It's quite simply a wood grain etch. The idea being you paint a light wood colour first, place the mask on and spray a darker wood colour. Remove the mask and leave in a solution to clean and you have a wooden effect on the model. More to follow soon.
If you want to see the wagon, it'll be on display on the demu stand at the Bristol O gauge show this Sunday.
